Pendragon join the Hills Community to help raise funds for Cancer Research

By 13 May 2014No Comments

Pendragon has been an active organisation within the hills community for over 15 years and on the 3rd May the team took part in the Hills Relay for Life event – to help raise much needed funds for Cancer Research.

While battling the cold and windy weather, the Pendragon tent held a competition to get the many cold bodies moving and warm throughout the 24 hour fundraising/relay event, a competition to see who could row the furthest in 1 minute. Each Male and Female participant who could row the furthest in minute won a $250 Coles Myer voucher.

Every participant also went into the draw to win a new 40” Sharp LCD TV worth $899.

From across the ground, the Pendragon tent roared with cheers and support for the participants of rowing competition. All the men and women who participated tried their best, in an effort to not only raise money for cancer research but to be at the top of the table for a chance to win the top prize.

Pendragon would like to commend the efforts of all of the participants who all gave it a good go, all while having a great time and keeping warm from the extra physical activity.
Across the 24 hour period, 100m rowed within a minute was a frequent achievement among participants. At the end of the competition period the Male and Female winner was decided. The results were:

The results were announced on the Sunday morning over the loudspeaker when the event was coming to a close. While announcing the winners, Pendragon arranged for the Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne, to draw out the winner of the 40” Sharp LCD TV. This led to a very successful day for the ladies winner Emily Michell, who was also drawn out to win the TV.

Pendragon is passionate and proud about their involvement with local charities and was proud to be involved in the Hills Relay for Life and seeing the local hills community coming together for such a great cause.
